European shares seen higher following upbeat data

The U.S. senate approved Janet Yellen to become the next chair of the Federal Reserve

CNBC - European equities are expected to open higher on Tuesday following data that showed growth in the euro zone's service and manufacturing industries gained momentum in December. The FTSE is expected to open higher by 3 points at 6,733, the German DAX up 19 points and the French CAC unchanged at 4,227.

European investors are now looking ahead to central bank meetings and U.S. jobs numbers. Further hints on the direction of U.S. monetary policy may be seen in Wednesday's release of the minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC's) most recent meeting, during which the central bank announced plans to taper stimulus.
